History

In 2011, the purchase by the Town of Comox for 2.56 hectares (6.3 acres) of waterfront land, once known as the Baybrook Farm, was concluded.

The property was purchased for $2.1 million with a  three year purchase agreement between the Town of Comox, Mr. Bay and the Nature Trust of B.C.

The property was originally owned by Hamilton Mack Laing.

Brooklyn Creek meanders through the property and enters the ocean under the Brooklyn Creek bridge, just to the south of the property. The creek’s stewards have cleaned up the waterway and planted trees and native vegetation.

The property is historically important for its numerous middens, evidence of K’omox First Nations habitation dating back thousands of years.
