Mack Laing Baybrook House in Comox

Dear Mayor Ives and Councillors,
I am writing in support of the citizens’ proposal to establish a Nature Pre-school at Baybrook House in their community of Comox.
A Nature pre-school educational program acknowledges the importance of developing the “whole” child and the need for young children to be engaged not only physically, but also cognitively, socially, emotionally and spiritually.
Baybrook House will offer a stimulating, natural environment allowing young children to move and to learn, with and through their natural environment. Varied nature-based experiences are critical to establishing a lifelong relationship with the outdoors and developing a positive attitude to forever maintaining a physically active, healthy lifestyle and an appreciation of our environment.
Baybrook House should be restored to provide a much-needed Nature pre-school in Comox and to honour Mack Laing’s legacy.
