TV and press comment on demolition threat

In recent days CTV news has aired a clip regarding the pending demolition of both of Mack Laing’s former homes.

There have also been numerous comments on Facebook, not least of all by Richard Mackie, who wrote the only biography of Mack Laing.

Baybrook House was built in 1923 and Shakesides in 1950. Despite having being lived in until recently, both have been declared unsuitable for restoration. The real reason hasn’t been publicly acknowledged – the opposition by a small group of local residents who fear that their street parking privileges might be endangered by a small nature house and nature pre-school – funded completely by the MLHS.
