Save Shakesides support continues and GoFundMe page launched

Category : News

The MLHS continues its efforts to preserve Mack Laing’s Shakesides home, and recently received a letter of support from the Denman Conservation Association.

As a conservancy organization, the DCA is keenly aware that we stand on the shoulders of those who have gone before on the path to honour and to protect the natural world. The Laing home is a symbol of that work and must be preserved at a time when our planet is in need of such heritage,” states the DCALetter of Support.

The MLHS is still engaged in trying to preserve that heritage, now by supporting the Attorney General of BC against the Town of Comox, which has filed a petition to overturn the Mack Laing Trust, demolish Shakesides, and create a viewing platform.

In order to ensure that all the necessary paperwork regards the Trust, as well as the activities of the Town related to Shakesides, are filed in a legal and acceptable manner, the MLHS has engaged a committed lawyer. Several important filings have been made to date.

The MLHS has paid for this necessary from reserves, but now needs additional funds to complete the filings. A GoFundMe page has been set up to accept donations: https://www.gofundme.com/saveshakesides
