The MCA plan to move Shakesides explained

The Merville Community Association’s plan to move Shakesides

The MCA has twice approached Comox Council with a viable plan to move Shakesides from its current location in Mack Laing Park in Comox, to their Merville site where other heritage buildings are already in place. The MCA has also raised funds to pay for the move. A move will both be less expensive for taxpayers by eliminating landfill charges resulting from a demolition.

Comox Council, after initially seeming to be open to the suggestion, has lately said the demolition of Shakesides will go ahead in late summer.

The MCA is pursuing their plan and gaining public support.

The MCA has also prepared a petition with information about their proposal.
